Massachusetts Fishermen's Partnership
The Massachusetts Fishermen's Partnership (MFP) is an organization of commercial fishermen's associations from all
gear and geographic sectors of the Massachusetts fishing industry. Established in 1995, the partnership works to provide solutions to problems
common to all fishermen.
The Fishing Partnership Health Plan contracts with the Massachusetts Fishermen's Partnership to provide outreach services for the
under-served New England fishing community. The MFP outreach coordinators include fishermen, fishermen's wives, and directors of fishing organizations
who have access to industry specific resources such as the Fishing Family Assistance Centers and the Shaw's Fund for Mariner's Children. And, they are
trained to provide information to fishermen about State and Federal funding sources including Medicare, Medicaid, and the Children's Medical Security
Plan. Furthermore, they know how to reach the fishermen. In addition to their location in community offices, outreach coordinators visit the docks
and settlement houses to execute their outreach efforts.
