Massachusetts Fishermen's Partnership
The Massachusetts Fishermen's Partnership (MFP) is an organization of commercial fishermen's associations from all gear and geographic sectors of the Massachusetts fishing industry. Established in 1995, the partnership works to provide solutions to problems common to all fishermen.
The Fishing Partnership Health Plan contracts with the Massachusetts Fishermen's Partnership to provide outreach services for the under-served fishing community. The MFP outreach coordinators include fishermen, fishermen's wives, and directors of fishing associations who have access to industry specific organizations and resources. And, they are trained to provide information to fishermen about State and Federal funding sources including Medicare, Medicaid, and the Insurance Partnership. Furthermore, they know how to reach the fishermen. In addition to their location in community offices, outreach coordinators visit the docks and settlement houses to execute their outreach efforts.
